Been thinking about Nikki's backstory for a while and wanted to write some of the early scenes in more detail. So my brain came up with that. If anyone' is interested in the extremely odd relationship between Nikki and his infamous sire. Its all here I think - at least how it all began.

Warning - contains exceptionally dodgy implied vampiric semi-incest.

Wicked Game

“Here's your quarters bro.” Fink said opening the large steel door to the hexagonal room that Nikki would be inhabiting in the new SFS haven. It was incredible. The work his pack had done while he'd been in America was simply remarkable. The last haven had been very secure – at least until that unfortunate incident with the wolves, this however, was more secure and secret then anything he had ever imagined in six hundred years of unlife.

“It is most excellent, my dear brother. One day, I must find a way to make up for my absence while you were constructing such a magnificent creation!”

“Yeah.. We'll talk about that later man.” Fink said with a hint of suspicion in his voice that had been there ever since Nikki had spent two years in America with Jack. Something Nikki hoped would pass as they found his loyalties still lay first and foremost with them. “Anyway, I gotta go sort out the others.” Fink said and turned away closing the door behind him as Nikki stepped in to observe the luxurious setting he had been presented with. Plenty of room to carry out experiments, soil from his hme land to sleep with, even a mirror to practice fleshcrafting in. Nikki walked up to the mirror and gazed for a while at the young Romanian man staring back at him. After al this time it was still difficult to accept this unaging person as his appearance. Nikki could remember every event that lead him here, he remembered how it had all began, he looked very different then, had been much younger, and of course, still alive.

“Come Nicolae, I will tell you a story until your father returns home.” The woman talking to the eight year old boy had only been in the village a few months but had already picked up the Romanian language quite flawlessly. She was a beautiful young woman from England who'd left her family to go exploring, her name was long lost to the world and every instance of it in Nikki's memory had been long ago rewritten with the name Lynn. There was only one person in existence now who knew the woman's true name, and hopefully Nikki wouldn't every encounter him again. The woman had picked up the eight year old and told him stories of her travels, from leaving England aboard a merchant vessel called The Pearly Lady across the Holy Roman Empire into the heart of Europe and eventually arriving penniless in Cluj and being taken in by the boys father. She was so beautiful, so kind to little Nicolae, but already jealousy and resentment was growing in the eyes of the boys mother. Feeling that would cause her to drive the woman before long from their home. The woman that Nicolae constantly thanked for taking him places with her stories, making her his own Pearly Lady, as he so often told her.

Years later the boy and grown into a young man an awoke for the first time to the cold breathless existence of undeath. Yet in his dead heart a warmth beat through his veins that filled him with a an intense passion. The blood of his Pearly Lady lowed in him, filling him with even more love for the woman who'd raised him as his own then he'd ever felt.

Over ten years had passed since she had adopted him, taught him about her sire in Bran Castle, and the Tzimichi unlife. She had promised to bestow the gift onto him when he was old enough and Nicolae had spent ten long years longing for this moment. He and his Pearly Lady would live forever, ruling over Cluj as mother and son. Nothing could go wrong.

Another forty years after that day, the woman lay morose and alone on a bed in the western tower of Bran Castle. A prisoner of her infamous sue, kept in a gilded cage. The door opened as her sires Malkvaian servant came in, presumably having returned from his nightly rampage, consuming the rodents of nearby Braşov. Yet as the woman watched, the Malkavian's shape shifted before her eyes until it became that of the face she had longed to see all her years of captivity. She fell into the arms of her Nicolae and that night he rescued her from the blood bond to her sire with the rite of the Valderie and hen rescued her from the castle as they fled to the small apartment he'd acquired in Braşov. Finally safe for the day, the woman gazed into the eyes of her adopted son and rescuer. She laid him down onto the small bed in the dingy apartment and wordlessly let slip the silken gown her sire had dressed her in.

Nicolae closed his eyes as his lips met those of the woman he'd loved for so long. Neither the woman or the boy cared for the consequences that night, nor what drove their emotions. Perhaps it was the blood they shared, perhaps the glory of their victory, perhaps it had all been inevitable since that night half a lifetime ago...

There were flames everywhere. The heat was almost unbearable. The ten year old Nicolae awoke to the house burning own around him and knew he was going to die.

Then suddenly out of the flames a vision in white came striding towards him. The woman his natural mother had driven our of their house two years ago. Somehow she'd found him, and come back to rescue him that night. His new mother, his fallen angel, his Pearly Lady.

Nikki stared into the mirror as the Romanian man stared back at him. The memories weighing heavy on him like a curse. The next time the woman and boy had been surrounded by flames was 600 years later in Fink's estate, when they fought their final battle. Over the time in between they had been a mother and son, lovers, and then rivals and bitter enemies locked in a wicked game against each other. A game that if appearances were to be believed was starting all over again in London.

Still for a while, it had been wonderful, but Nikki had lost that perfection so very very long ago.

Nikki shook his head at the reflection as a bitter frown spread over his face.

“You idiot.” Nikki said.

“World was on fire, no one could save me but you,
Strange what desire can make foolish people do...”
