To be fair, I think I'm kinda biased by two things.

1) I've always seen the vampire mythos as very sensual/sexual. Dracula, Lestat, Carmilla, the Lost Boys - even the Twilight sparklies - vampires in fiction are nearly always sexual creatures and capable of sexual desire. It's part of the trope. And to my mind, it's a large part of the myth - they are a symbol of the sexual predator, the threat, the sex without procreation - bad, lustful, impure sex.

And I think that's such a part of the myth that it feels odd to take it away entirely, however logical it may be. That's not to say all vampires must be sexual, but it feels odd to say they are not.

2) Saying vampires are capable of sex, or desire, or love, or lust leads to Interesting Emotional Role Play. And I'm a whore for the angsty doomed love stories. Basically, give me an inch, and I'll try and push an argument as to why it's OK to do that through it.

The colder and more distant the vampire is, the less fun I find them to RP. Which is, as an addition, why I don't think I've ever played a vampire who's older than 100 and have a great fondness for neonates.
