Mystery Saviour in Camden Assault

In the latest of a series of activities dubbed by some as a 'Local Hero' network, an assault in Primrose Hill Court was broke up last night by an unknown man.

Two women and one man from the Finchley area were attacked as they were returning home at around quarter past two in the morning on July 17th by a group of apparently drunken teenagers.

"I don't know what started it" says Rachel Bransley, 21 "we were coming back from the club, right, and came round the corner into the lot of them. Must've been like a dozen of them, doing over some lawn, and before we could think, they was attacking us. It was all just so fast. Real scary."

Miss Bransley's described how the teenagers punched and kicked her companions, Allison Mainwood and Darryl Swan to the ground where they continued to attck them before aid arrived.

"I went to run, to get help, right, and there was this guy running towards me. Some huge guy, I though he was going to attack me, but he went right past, flattened a few of the kids getting Darryl and Ali out, took a nasty hit to his head, too. Blood down the side of his face and everything. Then he just kinda stopped, you know, and looked at them. Said just 'go home, now' and the kids scattered. He was so angry, real scary guy. I'm just glad he wasn't pissed at me, you know?"

After making sure none of the trio were badly hurt, the man left before police and ambulance services arrived. The victims were taken to hospital and then released, and are described as 'shaken but not badly hurt'.

Police have described the incident as an 'unprovoked, vicious attack', and have appealed for anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forwards.

Detective Willis condemned the attack. "While it seems that no-one was badly hurt this time, this could have ended very differently. This kind of thing is completely unacceptable, and we need to find the kids responsible for this to make sure it doesn't happen again. We're also very keen to trace the man who broke up the attack, especially in light of his reported injuries."

The youths are described as being between 14 and 18 years old, wearing sports ware and trainers. The man is described as being in his early twenties, around six feet tall, with brown hair, and was wearing a leather jacket, white shirt and dark trousers.
