So in Year Two, Nikki went on a bit of an "Working Holiday" shall we say with Jack. During which time, his sire apparently decided to pay him a little visit. So yeah, decided I should wrie a little story about what happened there.
This is why its always good to have a methusla like Jack around when you decide to put a 5 point enemy on your character sheet...
Meet The Family
It was a hot night in the American Midwest as a slightly overweight man in a shiny business suit and slick back hair walked through the deserted streets of a quiet two horse town. Under one arm he carried a King James Bible, in a plain leather bound cover. Under the other was a myserious box. The box itself wasn't visible as it was wrapped around in a very dark cloth as if the man with the slick hair was quite adamant that he didn't want anyone seeing it or knowing what ir was or what lay inside it. The fact that he was taking such precautions when there was clearly nobody around would have made the action look even more suspicious to anyone observing, had there been anyone to observe it, that is.
After walking along the side of the road he came to an red painted barn in the middle of a disused farm. The barn seemed to be long abandoned due to the way all the windows appeared to be boarded up. The man walked up to the door and pushed it slowly, it opened into a dark interior and appeared to be just as disused as it seemed from the inside. Yet the man carried on, closing the door behind him and then walking over to an old farm machine, that seemed rusted with age. The man slid underneath the machine and into a small tunnel that seemed to be leading underground which widened into a passageway with a wooden door at the end. He pushed it open.
Behind the door, stood a young man in a leather jacket and a quiff, looking something like a 1950s American college student, dizzy on the highs of rock and roll and drag races.
“Didja gettit man?” He said in an accent that suited that image perfectly.
The man in the suit nodded and handed over the box wrapped in cloth.
“Ah your the man, Nikki, you are THE MAN!” Said the man in the leather jacket as the other gentleman started to physically shift in a most bizarre way, his skin rippled and his flesh and bone structure shifted in a matter of seconds until he resembled a young Romanian gentleman.
“So you say,” Nikki said. “And nice though it was to have the chance to increase my impersonation skills and be Janus again, I'm do not understand why these things are so important. These are what the 'kids in America' like are they?”
“You have no idea buddy. NO idea.” The man in the leather jacket said practically tearing away the black cloth to get to the box inside. “These things man! They are the SINGLE greatest reason, for the path of humanity!” He insisted pointing at the box excitedly. Nikki took a step forward to look again on the box he had brought the insistent young vampire. The box was a small cardbord affair, green with red cursive writing on it that read: “Krispy Kremes”.
Nikki shook his head in confused amusement. These new vampires had some strange ideas there was no two ways about it. This one who was called Dean was a Brujah who was perhaps a little over enthusiastic about certain things but in him was a quite powerful rage and a very impressive offensive capability for one so young in vampire years and thus one who was most welcome in Nikki's temporary pack – Carpe Noctum. The pack had been Jack's idea, an temporary infiltration and combat pack that they would use to remove the Camerrila from Richmond and turn it into a Sabbat city. Seeing as Nikki already had a great deal of respect for 'Uncle Jack' and he was currently feigning his death to escape the investigations of his sire who had apparently returned, he had been asked to become the packs priest. An offer he could hardly refuse.
The pack was at this moment in time still very new, and mainly was concerned with training. Hence the fact they were currently located in such a remote area. The new pack were being trained ruthlessly, he and Jack were making sure of that, and Nikki was convinced that by they time they struck in six months, Richmond would not stand a chance against them.
As Dean settled down to his favorite pastime, Nikki turned away as if in silent contemplation before the sound of a rush of wind and a cry from Dean made him turn around. Dean was no longer standing on his own anymore, but was being held up by his neck by a stunning but shockingly pale woman with long silver hair, a stake through his heart.
“Shh... little child.” The woman said to the terrified vampire. “It will all be over soon.” And she savagely decimated him in seconds. As Dean's body dissolved into ash the woman turned towards Nikki with a polite smile on his face. “Hello, Nicolae.” She said softly.
“My Pearly Lady.” Nikki said with every degree of courtesy, bowing slightly while not taking his eyes off her. “It is true then, you really did survive. I find that most perplexing.”
“That is forgivable my child, it was not something you were supposed to understand, intelligent and resourceful as you are I do not believe you could comprehend the genius of my plan.”
“Of course.” Nikki smiled. “That would indeed be most presumptuous of me. I must say I am quite flattered that you followed me all the way to The New World, I didn't know I meant so much to you.”
“Oh my darling boy.” The Pearly Lady beamed, “You know that nobody means as much to me as you. For the chance to destroy you at last, I would cross innumerable oceans. Now, I believe its time we...”
“Please wait, just a moment my lady. I have been very rude. I haven't introduced you.” e smiled looking over his sire's shoulder. “Please, Mother this is my Uncle. Uncle Jack, meet my mother.”
The Pearly Lady turned round to see the infamous Ravnos methusela standing behind her a silent smile on his face. He bowed gently.
“Jack? Is it?” The Pearly Lady said. “I have heard so many things about you.”
“As have I of your good self,” Jack replied. “But perhaps you would agree this would not be the best time to get to know each other better?” He said smiling with a slight arrogant tone as from behind him stepped the several other members of the Carpe Noctum, eager to throw themselves at the slayer of their packmate.
The Pearly Lady smiled. “Indeed. It would seem that now may not be the time for such pleasantries. Never mind, I am a very patient woman as my childe has no doubt told you. Very patient.” Then stepping towards the entrance said. “You are sure, Jack, that it is the boy you wish to side with and not the Mother?”
“Quite certain, dear lady.” Jack said simply.
“Very well Jack, perhaps, I will see you again sometime.”
“I look forward to it.” Jack said, still unmoving and without replying The Pearly Lady turned and left the haven. Some of the other pack members bolted for the door, wanting to finish the job here and now but Jack stopped them. “There's no need for that.”
“Indeed.” Nikki said. “It is only I my sire wants – and there is no need for any of you to sacrifice yourselves, she is a very dangerous woman and your chances against her are very slim."
“Dean can be replaced, but restarting the pack at this stage would be quite inconvenient. Perhaps though. It might also be wise to locate a new Haven.”
“I think that would be wise.” Nikki said. “And may I apologize to the pack for the danger my sire has caused them.”
“No apology necessary. We all have our enemies, some are more powerful then others, and some are almost inseparable at times.” And with a knowing smile Jack turned and left with the other pack members following.
Nikki turned away and looked at the box of doughnuts that had been Dean's final pleasure. Then picking up a chocolate Bavarian allowed a wide enigmatic and satisfied smile to grow over his face before biting into it.
