As some of you may know, there are some Black Spiral Dancers out there that don't like Tolly.

On Christmas Eve, a small posse from the Devon and Cornwall area tried for a strike.

They've tried to attack Tolly before with little succcess.

This time, however, there was no Jamie. There was Tolly, his mother, his sister, a Child of Gaia, and a rather innocuous looking female corax who happened to be in the area.

This is herview of events

Blood dripping from tattered wings, the great deformed form of a bird-man hauled itself up into the air, tearing free from the clutching claws below. Its chest was working itself like bellows, sucking air into tortured lungs.

“Higher, higher, higher,” the bird repeated to itself. Only willpower was keeping it upright at that moment, and it knew that had it not healed itself through the force of rage alone, it would be dead by now.

It stared down at the scene below in dismay. Juliet Oakley lay in a huddled heap on the ground, blood seeping from the slash across her throat. The bird knew she would die soon, and also knew that she had no capability of getting back down there to help.

Tolly was standing in the yard, hands aflame. He was Undying, he had said. He could come back from death, and the bird had a feeling that that would be needed tonight. This was a battle already lost. Five werewolves, twisted and reeking of the wyrm, were winning. Their claws were wet where they had wrenched out Tolly’s innards, and one of them was kneeling by Juliet, inhaling her last breaths.

The bird-thing hung in the air for a moment.

Corax do not die nobly, and that was what would happen if she went back down. Someone had to get this news out. Someone had to get the news out quick.

The bird-thing tilted its head up to the sky. She would return. She would return as soon as she had healed and sent her message to the other corax but she knew it would be too late. Messages, healing, they took valuable seconds and she didn’t have those moments spare. But she wasn’t going to die out of honour.

“I’m sorry,” it croaked.

And then it faded from sight into the velvet blue sky

Oh.

Poor, poor Tolly...

On the other hand, people will hopefully stop taking it for granted that Jamie will kill all the BSDs before they get troublesome.

I resent the implication that I rely on Jamie to kill BSDs!

Besides which, this whole mess was Jamie's fault in the first place.

I was more implying that the rest of us do :) And I'm fascinated now. Tell me more!

Hey! I killed two of them out of five, and forced the third to rage heal! That's not bad going, right?

You killed one, i think you will find that we, by which i mean the BSDs killed the second one and he gave his life willingly for the cause.

Actually, I think you'll find that I was the reason he couldn't get out in time. So therefore I shall claim that kill, and gladly. :-P

Clearly Jez is much more successful at killing people with BSDs than people are at killing Jez with BSDs. Though not completely. You know if I'd sent them you'd have killed 'em all.

Did he not distract you enough to allow for the death of a parent and give enough time for the rest to start the gas leak, he did his job as he was suppose to, as such that kill is ours, you did exactly what you were suppose to do.

Nope. At that point I had absolutely no way of saving her life other than to grab the BSD and get the CoG to help her. Which is what I did.

and give enough time for the rest to start the gas leak

Time? There wasn't exactly anything I could do to stop them - I was one hit off death!

The joke's on you; there was no reason for him to sacrifice himself.

Darn it, I was really hoping I got him.

Ah well, one and one rage healed.

I'll do better in the rematch.
