A post regarding my new mage character.

Raindrops patter on the tiles besidehim, a soothing accompaniment to the lights flickering across the water below. The music of his city is quiet at this time, harmony in the depth of the night.

From this vantage he can see much of the worst that has been done to the city since last he was here, an age ago. The repairs to the barrier and docklands are visible, continuing even during the night. The lights on the new bridges shine through the night, whilst darkness is all that remains in the ruined hall where once St Pauls stood proud.

He has so much to do. The ravages of conflict must be mended, the war itself ended. So many battles between otherworldly foes throwing themselves at each others' throats with no thought for those around them who suffer for a fight not their own.

Sirens ring through the air, flashing lights reflected off of the buildings along the Strand as police rush to another incident. Heralds of the discord to London's great symphony. Another terror plagues the darkness, but is it man or monster?

Despite the evil of men, they are the purview of men themselves. Monsters, however, those are his purview, his and the other awakened of the city.

Sliding forward to drop from his perch, he falls through the air, landing softly at the base of the tower on the deserted pavement. Climbing onto the bike he left parked on the edge of the roadway, he climbs onto it and drives north, off the bridge and into the streets of London.

It has been an eternity since he last travelled these roads, an age trapped in darkness, fighting a never ending battle. Much has changed, though he knows that to those around him, much less time has passed, even if it is still best measured in long years.

Now he is back however, and now things will not continue in the way it has been.

Monsters, beware.
